Sussex County Association of REALTORS® recognizes that its staff, NAR Committee Members, and other members interested in leadership could benefit from attending the NAR Annual Meeting. Therefore, a scholarship fund has been established to help fund these travelers.
The NAR NXT conference held in November with a different location each year have both been described by previous attendees as transformative events that directly linked members to the power of the REALTOR® brand, created meaningful relationships with colleagues from across the country, and created a personal connection with the National Association of REALTORS® and the “REALTOR® Party.”
Any staff person or REALTOR® member who meets the criteria below and is willing to fulfill the scholarship requirements is encouraged to apply for travel by Friday, April 26, 2024 to the NAR NXT Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, occurring November 6 – 10, 2024.

- Applicant must be a current SCAOR REALTOR® member or staff person at the time of application and meeting dates.
- Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to professionalism, volunteerism, and a desire to develop leadership skills.

- Discuss registration options with the SCAOR Association Executive, and they may be asked to complete their own registration for the hotel and event registration.
- Attend the corresponding NAR Mid-Year or NAR Annual meetings.
- Meet with the SCAOR Association Executive prior to travel
- To determine what is covered by their scholarship
- To discover important sessions to attend while at the meeting

Shadow an NAR Committee Member (if not already on a NAR committee) and attend the NAR Committee they serve on as a guest.

Pay for expenses while traveling and submit all receipts for reimbursement within one week of the travel return date.

Submit a summary of the trip and present it to the SCAOR Board of Directors at their next regularly scheduled meeting.

- Paid travel expenses.
- Network with REALTORS® and staff from around Delaware and other parts of the country.
- Increase awareness for NAR, the REALTOR® Party, RPAC, and industry issues.
- Opportunity to attend business development opportunities, NAR meetings, REALTORS® Trade Expo, and tour the Nation’s Capitol or other parts of the country.

Licensed Delaware REALTORS® with five or more years of professional work experience are invited to embark on a journey to become a licensed Delaware Real Estate Broker with our comprehensive 99-hour course, approved by the Delaware Real Estate Commission. All classes are to be offered through Zoom on Tuesdays from 9 am – 12 noon and 6 – 9 pm; and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 9 pm. Orientation will be on Monday, February 24th, 6 pm – 9 pm, providing a comprehensive overview of the course structure and expectations. The final exam will take place on Thursday, April 17th, 6 pm – 9 pm, marking the culmination of your learning. The cost of the course covers all materials, ensuring you have everything you need to succeed. The course fee is $999 with an Early Bird discount of $100 dollars available to those who register before Friday, January 31st. SCAOR will notify enrollers when the course books are available to pick up. An additional fee of $25 will be charged to those who wish to have the materials mailed to them. Introducing ‘Look Who’s Cooking: Sussex County Challenge,’ our spring kick-off event dedicated to fostering safe and affordable housing. We invite you and twenty-four Sussex County Real Estate Professionals (or your designee) to showcase your culinary finesse by preparing your favorite appetizer, entrée, or dessert, served up in small-plate style at this food-tasting and fundraising extravaganza.
This isn’t your typical tasting event – here, the spotlight is on Sussex County’s best Real Estate Pros-turned-chefs. Each participating broker will be provided with a designated six-foot serving table, eco-friendly disposables, and utensils. All you need to bring are your serving utensils and a cooler or steam tray to maintain your dish’s temperature.
Join us for the ultimate networking opportunity to elevate your profile. Our 2024 Board Recruitment period is now open. Please consider applying or encouraging someone to apply. This is truly an opportunity to help guide the Association.
As a reminder, our bylaws state, “The governing body of the Association shall be a Board of Directors consisting of elected officers, five (5) REALTOR® members and any seated NAR director who is a member of the Association.
Directors shall be elected to serve terms of three years, except at organization one-third of the elected directors shall be elected for terms of one, two, and three years respectively,
or for lesser terms as may be deemed necessary to complete the first fiscal year.
No more than two (2) members of the Board of Directors (BOD) should come from any member firm, with the exception of the position automatically assigned to the immediate past president.”
The filled positions for the 2024 Slate of Officers shall be as follows:
· Adriane Gallagher – President (one-year term)
· Allison Stine – Past President (one-year term)
· Mary Dayton – One-year Director
· Jack Redefer – Two-year Director
· Chris Lind – Two-year Director
· Trina Joyner – NAR Director (two-year term)
The open positions for the 2024 Slate of Officers shall be as follows:
· President-Elect (one-year term)
· 1st Vice President (one-year term)
· 2nd Vice President (one-year term)
· Director (three-year term) – 2 positions available
· Treasurer (one-year term)
· Assistant Treasurer (one-year term)
The Nominating Committee, which will meet soon, must send the Slate of Officers to the BOD at least 70 but no more than 100 days before the annual meeting on Monday, October 2, 2023.
